Government Polytechnic, Gulzarbagh is one of the oldest Government Ploytechnic College established by the Government of Bihar under the Department of Science and Technology. It was start its first academic session in 1954 from campus of Government Polytechnic, Gulzarbagh. The Polytechnic college had Eight engineering branches – Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Ceramics, Textile, Printing, Electronics, and Computer Science with an intake of 60 per branch except Ceramics and Textile, having 30 seat in each.

Students are admitted to Government Polytechnic Gulzarbagh, Patna through DCECE (Diploma Combined Entrance Examination). The counselling procedure is conducted by BCECE (Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Exam) board under Government of Bihar. Application Forms are Filled in the online mode only.

After the completion of application submission process, students can download their admit cards by filling the required details.
The Examination is conducted in the offline mode only.
Once the results are declared, the counselling procedure is started for those who clear it. It is conducted in online mode only.
The seats are allocated to students based on the ranks in the ranking/ merit list as per the choices filled by them.
Once the fees are submitted and the documents are verified, there is a medical fitness test after which the admission gets completed.
The training and placement cell of the college works dedicatedly in helping the students to develop all the needed skills to get placed in well reputed companies. Students are also given knowledge about higher study opportunities in India and abroad.
Seminars and workshops are conducted to help students to work in the best way possible. Students are taken for training from the 4th semester onwards.
The training is conducted on personality development and personal grooming of the students.
All the diploma specialized students have been placed in well reputed companies through placements.

Computer Lab- This college has the availability of around 250 computer systems in their labs. All of them are equipped with 24-hour power supply and internet connectivity. It is of great use for the students who desire to update themselves with all the trends.
Library- The college Library has a stock of over 25,000 books covering all the requirements of the students. Separate sections are made for all the branches available here.
Hostels- There are separate hostels for both Girls and boys. Both hostels are well-maintained by the respective wardens. Availability of all the basic facilities are made in the hostels.
