Government Polytechnic Asthawan, Nalanda are one of the prominent Government Polytechnic College established by the Government of Bihar under the Department of Science and Technology. It was founded on April 30, 2013 and situated in Asthawan block, 15 kilometres (Approximately) from BiharSharif District headquarters of Nalanda. It has been approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to State Board of TechnicalEducation, Patna. It was inaugurated on August 20, 2015 by the Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar. It offers diploma in four branches Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering,Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. It started its first academic session in 2015 with a batch of 60 Student in each branches (Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering).

Library
The college Library has a vast collection of text and reference books besides other resource materials. The main objective is to deliver world-class service to its users by providing various books, journals, dailies, magazines, and other related materials.
Cafeteria
The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.
Laboratories
The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students. The Computer Centre is equipped with more than 50 computers of state of art Intel Pentium IV machines. A leased line connection for the internet Facility is also in process. Also, EDUSET Lab was established in college.
Boys Hostel
The college has Two hostels capacity (200) for boys on a first come -first serve basis. Mess is arranged by inmates themselves. All activities are supervised by the warden, who is selected by the senior-most faculty of the institute.
Girls Hostel
The college has a girl's hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.
Medical/Hospital
The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students. For the protection, preservation and promotion of health, a well-organized program of health instruction is essential for the students. The college provides medical facilities and health education programs for the benefit of the students. The college invites a registered medical practitioner from time to time to examine the student’s health.
Sports
The college has sports facilities for all students. For “Healthy Mind in Healthy Body, facilities for other outdoor and indoor games like Volleyball, Football, Cricket, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, etc. are available.
