Karnataka Samskrit University (KSU) was established by the State Government of Karnataka in the year 2010 through the Karnataka Samskrita Vishwavidyala Act 2009 (KSV Act) passed by the Karnataka State Legislature. The university is currently recognized by the University Grants Commission under section 2F and has been accorded the 12(B) status of the UGC Act, 1956.
KSU was formed exclusively for the development of the Sanskrit language. The Sanskrit language has a rich tradition of knowledge synthesis, which has immensely contributed to the overall development of all branches of learning. It is the oldest living language in the world, with a rich repertoire of knowledge in the domains of Poetry, Logic, Grammar, Philosophy, Aesthetics, Science & Technology, Mathematics, and allied subjects. In-depth research in these domains can be achieved only through thorough knowledge of the Sanskrit language, learning, and research. KSU was established to promote higher learning, and research in Sanskrit language & literature and its relevance in the modern world.
Candidates need to apply in the prescribed form only for admission to the study programs through the university website. The application should be submitted to ‘The Registrar, Karnataka Samskrit University, Pampa Mahakavi Road, Chamarajpet, Bangalore – 560018’. The application and entrance exam fee is INR 500 (for General), INR 250 (for SC, ST) should be taken in the name of – Finance Officer, Karnataka Samskrit University, Bangalore’.
Admissions shall be based on the Entrance Test and an interview duly following the merit cum reservation policy of the state government. Only the predetermined number of students shall be admitted to the relevant programs.
There are scholarship benefits for socially deprived and backward students. Candidates who belong to SC, ST, and Minority class will get a 50% concession in academic fees as per the government rules. Some of the scholarships are SC Students for Post-Matric Scholarship and Post-Metric Scholarship. More than 70,000 students have been benefitted through these scholarship schemes.
