Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology (HIET) was built up in Chennai in 1966 in light of the requirement for non-formal specialized training. Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology is controlled by the Hindustan Engineering Training Center (HETC) Educational society, which is enlisted as a Technical Education Society under the Societies Act, XXI of 1860. The foundation is endorsed by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, for leading Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course and by All India Council for Technical Education and the Government of Tamil Nadu for leading Diploma courses in Automobile, Computer, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics and Electronics and Communication Engineering Courses. 

The organization has prepared thousand of understudies in numerous orders of Engineering. It is very much furnished with workshops and research centers. HIET is generally perceived in the Asian and African landmasses as a head specialized foundation. Different Governments including the Governments of Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Singapore, the Commonwealth Secretariat and a few flying associations had supported understudies to experience courses at HIET. HIET has prepared more than 42,000 people as designers and experts. More than 5000 of them are presently working with different carriers and flight enterprises in India and abroad.
