Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, was established in 1996. It was Dr P. D. Patil, Principal, Dr. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune's vision and desire is to create one of the best colleges, hospitals and research centers in Maharashtra and the country. His efforts bore fruit and with the blessings of the esteemed Dr. D. Y. Patil, Ex-Governor, Bihar and Tripura the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre was started. Dr D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre is a constituent unit of Dr D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, which is a NAAC re-accredited (3rd Cycle) Vidyapeeth with a 3.64 CGPA on four point scale at ‘A++’ Grade and ISO 9001: 2015 certified ‘Deemed to be University.’ Dr D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, has been accorded the status of University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, vide Notification No. F. 9-39/2001-U.3 dated January 11, 2003 of the Government of India.

Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre started with annual recruitment of 100 seats for MBBS program and is affiliated with Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune. The institute offers MBBS, MD, MS, DM, MCh and PhD at UG, PG and PhD levels. The institute offers MBBS at UG, MD/MS at PG, DM/MCh at super-specialty level and PhD at doctoral level, all under one roof. Admission to DY Patil Medical College is on entry basis. Candidates must apply for NEET-UG conducted by NTA for admission to MBBS For MD/MS programmes, admission will be based on qualifying marks obtained in NEET PG DM and MCh admission is done on the basis of NEET-SS conducted by NBE Candidates have to apply online for the registration process for UG, PG and Super Specialty entrance exams. Admissions are made strictly on the basis of scores obtained in the entrance exam.
