Shri. M. D. Shah Mahila College is an evolving institution offering women's education to the largest number of girl students in the entire western suburbs of Mumbai. It is affiliated to SNDT Women's University and patronized by the Janseva Samiti. The College is conveniently located at Malad (West) on B. J. Patel Road which is at a walkable distance from the closest station 'Malad' on the Western Railways.The college offers courses in the faculties of Arts and Commerce with various discipline components. Besides, it also runs several professional courses like BMS, BCA, BA-MM, BAFI & BAF and Certificate Courses in Interior Designing, Fashion Designing, etc. Established in 1968, the college today offers Post-graduation Degrees in Economics, History and Hindi as well as M. Com. (Marketing and Accountancy & Taxation) The Management is thus oriented towards making higher education accessible to the girl-child irrespective of any prevalent social or economic problems. The institution is pro-actively engaged in curtailing several limitations that a girl child faces in contemporary society in her attempts to educate herself.

One can develop and maintain a healthy body by actively participating in Games and Sports. Games keep our body active, youthful and energetic. Games and Sports provide us with recreation and enjoyment. Sports men receive preference in jobs. Sports bring fame and reputation. The college has a library of its own. There are 2336 books on different subjects. The library is enriched by Newspapers, Journals, and Periodicals. The college has an allotted strength of 120 pupil teachers. In Year 2011 = 164 Books. Total Books = 2336.

Admission to this college is conducted by the rules and eligibility criteria of the SNDT women’s university. Candidates must have qualified for the HSC or equivalent examination with English as their compulsory subject for their admission in the B.A., B.Com, B.A.F.I, B.M.S., B.M.M., and B.C.A. The most important part is that students from the other state, required an eligibility certificate from the SNDT women’s university, to affirm their admission. Every student needs to obtain at least 45% marks at the HSC level in the general cast and 40% marks in the S.T./ S.T. category.
