VCET Is a co-educational Engineering College started in the year 2001, administered by Vellalar Educational Trust. VET was formed in the year 1969 to provide quality and affordable education - right from primary school to PhD level. The Trust manages 9 other institutions – a State board school, a matriculation school, a CBSE School, an Arts and Science college for Women, a coeducational Arts and Science college, a Pharmacy College, Nursing College and a B.Ed college. VCET was started with 3 UG programs in engineering with an intake of 180. VCET Is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University Chennai. Now the college offers 9 UG programs, 5 PG programs in addition to three Research Centres approved by Anna University for PhD. . More than 3100 students are pursuing their higher education in UG and PG levels. Four UG programs , BE -Biomedical Engineering, BE- Computer Science and Engineering, BE- Electrical and Electronics Engineering and BE- Electronics and Communication Engineering got accredited by NBA under Tier 2 scheme in 2016 and subsequently B.Tech - Information Technology program was accredited by NBA in 2018. VCET was granted autonomous status by UGC from academic year 2016-17. From the first year of autonomy, the college follows CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) offering wide variety of courses to the students to acquire their required knowledge base for a successful future – whether it is a job in Core or IT Company, or higher studies in India / abroad or be entrepreneurship.

"One best book is equal to hundred good friends but one good friend is equal to a Library" - Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Our college has a well-stacked automated central library with 20000 volumes of technical books, books in science and humanities, national and international journals, CDs and leading newspapers, magazines and e-library. Every student is a member of the library and can have free and open access to and can borrow all books, journals and newspapers. CDs can also be borrowed for home viewing.
Internet
Our College has dedicated Internet Leased line of 10 Mbps, connected with Internet Lab and Library. Students and faculties are free to access Internet. This helps the students to prepare papers on the latest technologies to be presented in various symposiums and seminars.Interested students who are willing to go abroad for further studies can take up tests such as GRE and TOEFL, take up online mock test and also browse through websites of various universities of higher education around the world. The access speed enables the Students and Staff to download and upload files at a fast rate.
Canteen
A large Canteen with a capacity of 100 members to dine at the same time enables all students and staff to have lunch and breakfast. A large modern kitchen with steam cooking is attached to the mess hall. A modern bakery and ice-cream are attached to the mess. There is a separate floor one each for Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian in the Canteen to dine.

Daily trips of college buses are available from specific boarding points covering all the nearby places in Erode district and Kerala.
Sports
Velalar College of Engineering and Technology has a Physical Education department which promotes Sports and Games. The college has very good play ground and facilities for sports and games like Cricket, Volley ball, Football, Shuttle and Ball badminton, Chess, Carrom, Fencing etc. Velalar College of Engineering and Technology have gained a reputation for preparing and encouraging good sportsmen. Many students represent the University in various sports and games. A few students of the college have excelled and become National level sportsmen.
Hostels
Velalar College of Engineering and Technology offers comprehensive hostel facilities within the campus. We understand that most of our students are moving away from home for the first time, so we strive to make the transition as smooth as possible by offering comfortable and safe hostels within the campus, providing a homely atmosphere. MACET offers separate magnificent hostels for boys and girls with hostel warden in each hostel to supervise day to day management. All the rooms have been designed to provide adequate moving space and ample air and light. Each hostel has its own mess providing hygienic and nutritious meals three times a day. The menu is designed to cater to a range of taste buds.

Our College is concerned about each student's overall well-being while enrolled at Velalar College of Engineering and Technology . As such, one of the services we provide is an on-campus health clinic that meets the normal, day-to-day health needs of our students. The College Campus Clinic is Run and managed under the guidance of qualified and experienced doctors. Backed by a modern diagnostic centre. The placement cell continuously works to identify requirements of companies and co-ordinates with the training cell and the career development cell to train the students. The Team maps the right talent to the right industry. It has been working meticulously to achieve 100% placements year after year. The placement cell focuses more on giving opportunities in core industries to the students.The placement cell has introduced “Earn While You Learn” model through paid internships. The students are prepared for interview and are placed for internship. The students are paid a stipend, ranging from Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 25,000/- during their internship period. The internship model helps the students and the corporate to understand each other better, paving way for the students to get placed in the companies. The cell continuously monitors their progress and facilitates the students to upgrade their skill-set appropriately. Special timetable and procedures are designed to facilitate the students to complete their regular curriculum during their internship.
