St Xavier's College partnered to the college of Kerala is set up and kept up by the Jesuits of Kerala region, and is situated at Thumba in Thiruvanathapuram region of Kerala State, South India. At its commencement in 1964, it was a piece of Loyola Institutions at Sreekariyam in Thiruvananthapuram. 


On 10 Oct 1963, the Kerala Jesuit Society applied for beginning Loyola Junior College on the Loyola College grounds, Srikaryam, Thiruvananthapuram. That was the year wherein the legislature had changed its instructive strategy and welcomed non-administrative instructive organizations to begin Junior College in Kerala. The application was documented by the then Principal of Loyola College, Fr Joseph Puthenkalam S.J for and for the sake of the President of the Kerala Jesuit Society. 


The new site was divided close to the seacoast in the Kadinamkulamā€“Menamkulam Village. This site was 110 sections of land in degree. Authorization was agreed to Loyola Junior College being situated at the new site (the present area) by the Kerala University on sixth January 1965. 


Meanwhile the administration of Kerala procured the above site of 110 sections of land of land and moved the equivalent to the Kerala Jesuit Society. The Society took total ownership of the arrive on 19 Dec 1964. Structures for College and Hostels were set up soon with assets raised through credits from far and close and Over Drafts from Banks. Loyola Junior College was moved to the new site (the present St Xavier's College grounds) in September 1965. 


The first overseeing body of the Loyola Junior College comprised of five Jesuits and one part designated by the University with Fr Provincial of the Kerala Jesuit Province as the supervisor. On seventh Oct 1966, authorize was concurred by the Syndicate of the Kerala University to change the name Loyola Junior College to "St Xavier's College, Pallithura, Trivandrum". 


St Xavier's College is one of only a handful couple of Jesuit Colleges in India, and maybe one of the Catholic Colleges and presumably the one and only one, that is arranged in an exceptionally poor territory among the most unfortunate of individuals and is attempting to address the issues of poor people. The College got Permanent Affiliation in 1985 from the University. St Xavier's College, which stayed a Junior College, opened its first Degree Course B.Sc Chemistry in 1977 and turned into a first grade College.
