Mar Baselios Dental College (MBDC), Kothamangalam, founded in 2002, is the first dental college in Kerala that was started in the self-financing sector. The College is a minority institution managed by the Mar Baselios Medical Mission Trust. It is affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), Thrissur, and recognized by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi. The present eminence of the College makes it the most preferred college for the students aspiring for dental education. The sprawling green campus of more than 7 acres is located at Thankalam, 2 km northwest of Kothamangalam Town, in the Ernakulam District, Kerala State, India. The nearest railway station is Aluva, 30 km west and the nearest airport is Cochin International Airport 30 km northwest of the College. The idyllic location of the campus enjoys the refreshing aura of the rural ambiance. The College offers a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme with an annual intake of 60 and seven postgraduate programmes in different specializations –Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Periodontics and Implantology, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics.

The College has state-of-the-art infrastructure with advanced facilities for effective teaching, learning, and better diagnosis and management.ICT-enabled air-conditioned classrooms and well-equipped laboratories and clinical departments, well-stocked Central Library with more than 6000 volumes and about 150 research journals including 57 e-journals, provide ample opportunities for quality learning and research.

Boys Hostel

The hostel is an integral part of the college family. Hostels are provided for boys separately. Admission into hostels will be considered only after admission into MBDC. The College hostel has three blocks to house 540 students. Application for the College hostel should be submitted separately at the time of admission. The hostel adds a dimension of vigor and commitment to the academic and extra-curricular environment of the college.

HOSTEL

Both Ladies and Men’s Hostel are located inside the campus. Members of the teaching staff are appointed as Chief Warden’s in the hostel. The rooms provide most modern facilities and privacy. MBDC provides excellent hostel facilities for students. The hostels have mess facilities for students and faculties. The mess is spacious, highly hygienic and elegant. College hostel is fully wifi enabled. 

Dining

Both Gents & Ladies Hostel has mess facility. Mess serves Non-Veg and Veg food. MBDC is providing and maintaining exceedingly hygienic and healthy food service for the inmates. 

Wifi Access

 Gents hostel and Ladies hostel are Wi-Fi areas which is also controlled by the server room in the campus. 

CANTEEN

College has spacious canteen facility in the campus. It spans around an area of 3000sqft which caters to the taste of all students. Our canteen can accommodate 30 persons at a time. The canteen remain open on all working days. It provides all types of nutritious and hygienic eatables to cater to the students, staff and visitors. A variety of south Indian food and snack items are provided to the students and staff of the college with best quality. Canteen is open from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM on all working days.

CYCLE BAY

“Baselian Cycle Bay”, a unique initiative of Mar Baselios Dental College, was inaugurated on 10 December 2021. The first of its kind in a Dental College in our state, this cycling club aims to inculcate a healthy life style among the students. Dr.Jose Paul, Professor and HOD of Periodontics, Annoor Dental College, Muvattupuzha and the Super Randonneur 2021 achiever, inaugurated the club. In his talk “Wheels of Health – A beginners guide for Cycling”, he introduced the young cycling enthusiasts of the Baselian family to the world of cycling. Following the inauguration, a short cycle ride comprising of students and faculty to our sister institution MBITS Engineering College was organized, which was flagged off by our Secretary, Adv.C.I.Baby. Along with this, a beautiful outdoor gymnasium was also opened for the students. The entire program was well coordinated by Dr Mathews Baby, staff advisor, and Mr.Jerin Johny, Chairman of Astitva Students Union under the able guidance of our Principal, Dr Byju Paul Kurian.
