Dum Dum Motijheel Rabindra Mahavidyalaya, a Degree College was established on 5th August, 1968 under the name of Dum Dum Acharya Prafulla Chandra College was founded on 16th August, 1960 under the Dispersal Scheme – with the joint participation of the State and Central Governments ,named after the eminent Visionary Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy.This  college is presently  accredited with Grade ‘A’ securing CGPA 3.23. At present the college is offering UG courses affiliated to the West Bengal State University through altogether 27 subjects besides  offering  eight Post Graduate courses .To encourage learning through the Swayam platform the college has a  local chapter of NPTEL, besides  units from NSOU, Rabindra Bharati University and NIELIT to enable parallel certification for students. Student Support and facilities : The college has  7.2 acres land in its main campus and another 0 .61 acres of land in the second campus. The total  built up  area is  about 93,000 sq.ft. Limited lodging facilities are provided through  (a) an 80 bedded  Women’s hostel and an(b) 80 bedded Central Hostel for OBC Boys under BCW department, Govt. of West Bengal. Other infrastructural facilities include broadband connection to different departments, a well- stocked library with subscription to e-books and e-journals an auditorium with a capacity 750, indoor Multi-gym with 16 station gym equipment, a basketball court, a cricket practice pitch and  a composite playground of national standard in our campus for outdoor games facilities to our students.

Hostel Facilities

Girls’ Hostel :

Hostel facility for girl students with capacity of 80 students.

Boys’ Hostel :

A Boys’ hostel for SC/ST/OBC students of this district setup in this college by the Backward Class Welfare Department of the Govt. of West Bengal. Boarding facility is available for 80 students.

Medical Assistance

Very recently, a policy has been adopted to bring the students under ‘Students Safety Insurance Policy’ of United India Insurance Company Limited. This scheme provides insurance support to the policy holder in case of any accident as per the terms and conditions laid down in the policy. Initially 1500 students admitted to the 1st year classes of the under graduate course in the session 2015-2016 has been included under this scheme. An Amount of Rs. 112/- plus the service tax @14.5% is paid by each student towards the annual premium of this scheme. We are planning to include all students of this college under this scheme.

Laboratories

All the departments that have experimental studies included in the curricula have very well-equipped and sophisticated laboratory facilities. This includes departments of Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Electronics, Anthropology, Botany, Food & Nutrition, Zoology. The teachers and the laboratory assistants of the respective departments pay meticulous attention towards the proper maintenance and smooth running of these laboratories. The college has 22 in number of laboratories attached with different departments. To enhance the teaching-learning-research facilities, we have received financial assistance of Rs. 79.5 lac under FIST programme of DST, which has led to significant improvement in laboratory infrastructure inthe postgraduate departments.

Internet

The Computer laboratories are networked using LAN by 32/16 bit switches. There was a college-wide network which provided internet connection through a single VPN connection from BSNL. Thereafter we have opted for the NME-ICT scheme of the Govt. of India. Under the NME-ICT Scheme the college has been provided with twenty landlines with Broadband connection which have been distributed in different departments including the library. Ten of these have wireless modem by virtue of which most of the lab-based departments already have a Wi-Fi enabled environment.

Sports

From earning sports scholarships to pursuing a professional sports career, there are lots of benefits for being an athlete in college level. Our college has taken keen interest in identifying and promoting students talented in sports activities. The following infrastructural facilities on sports are available in the college:

Seminar Room
