IISWBM was recognized on twenty-fifth Apr 1953 by a resolution has gone by the Senate of the University of Calcutta. The meeting of the Senate was presided over by mister. Justice avatar Prasad Mookherjee. This was the end result of the joint initiative taken by the University of Calcutta, the govt of West Bengal, the govt of Republic of India|Bharat|Asian country|Asian nation} and also the captains of trade to line up for the primary time a management education institutions in India, a plan alien to several within the academic fraternity at that point. within the year 2013 Institute completed its jubilee signifying sixty years of associate eventful journey in management education in India.
