The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology

The Multidisciplinary Health Sciences and Technology University (TDU) is sponsored by FRLHT Trust and was established by the Government of Karnataka in 2013. The university promotes interdisciplinary research and education. During the first decade of its establishment, it focused on one area - the intersection of Ayurveda and Biology. It already has an extensive collection of medical literature on Ayurveda and infrastructure for research in the areas of phytochemistry, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, and cell biology. The university runs a 100-bed research hospital called IAIM (Institute of Ayurvedic Integrative Medicine).

Ayurvedic biology is the core focus of TDU, but in the future, it may develop new interdisciplinary focuses in various areas such as biomedicine, life sciences, mathematics, logic, social sciences, environmental studies, design, architecture, performing arts, visual arts, engineering, business administration, and political science.

TDU faculty are organized into small specialized groups with different focus areas focused on building innovative outreach, research and education programs. In 2023, these programs will cover population health, specialized training, medicinal plant conservation, animal health, human health (neurobiology, metabolism, malnutrition, microbiome, holistic nutrition, medicinal plant informatics, digitization of medical papers), and clinical research.
