Somaiya Vidya Vihar University, Mumbai, to make world-class education affordable to both meritorious and underprivileged students, offers the following scholarships:
1. Somaiya Vidya Vihar/Somaiya Ayurvihar or Chairman Scholarship: The aim of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students with outstanding academic performance. Anyone pursuing a course in an SVU-affiliated institution can avail this scholarship. It is valid for the entire duration of the program. The eligibility and selection process are as follows:
Submission of Application: The application period opens in the first week of July and ends in the first week of September every year.
Selection Process:
The shortlisted students will have to complete a personal interview.
After successful verification of the documents, the amount will be released to the particular college.
2. Merit and Need Based Scholarships: Below are some of the scholarships offered to students on the basis of their academic performance or financial status.
Dr. Meenakshi Rajan Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is specially offered to students of the Humanities who have achieved outstanding results in their final year of study.
Bharti Nanji Gala Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to female students who are pursuing a diploma or full-time or part-time course of study at the time of availing the benefit. Candidates must also have good academic records in all their previous periods of study. Also, their family income should not exceed 3 LPA per year.
3. Need-Based Scholarships: Below are some of the scholarships that fall under the need-based scholarship category. To receive the grant, students must also provide evidence of their financial situation and may be asked for additional documents during the interview.

4. Charitable Scholarship: The main objective of this scholarship is to assist students who have suffered sudden financial or economic loss due to death in the family, loss of employment etc. To qualify for the benefit, students must meet the following criteria:
The student's household income should not exceed INR 3 LPA
Students must have secured at least 80% marks in the previous examination.
Library: SVU has a well-established and resourced library area that provides excellent reading and research material to the students. The library covers all the academic programs in its latest collections of books, periodicals, journals, references, magazines, newspapers, titles, etc. The library space is well-lit and helps the students in performing their research and project work easily. The library also has a digital section that provides e-journals, e-books, and other online databases to the students.
Hostel: The University offers excellent accommodation facilities to the students. The campus of the university has 4 hostels, namely Sandipani Hostel, Maitreyi Hostel, Polytechnic Hostel, and Ashtavakra Hostel. Separate hostel facilities are provided to girls and boys with spacious, furnished, and clean rooms. The campus of the hostel is student-friendly and equipped with all the necessary medical facilities, security guards, and wardens.
Sports: To uplift the students mentally, physically, and emotionally, the university provides various sports facilities and recreational activities to the students. The students of SVU Mumbai get the opportunity to be coached by expert sports faculties. The university has both indoor and outdoor games like Basketball, Badminton, Chess, Football, Futsal, Handball, Cricket, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Judo, Tennis, Swimming, Squash, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Wall Climbing, etc. Students of this university are motivated and encouraged to take part in various sports tournaments and events at district, state, national, and international levels.
