Smt. Manjira Devi University, Uttarkashi has been established as a Private University in the State of Uttarakhand vide State Government Notification No. 114/XXXVI(3)/2024/13(1)/2024 dated 16th March, 2024.

Sant. In this remote mountainous region, Manjira Devi Shikshan Avam Prashikshan Sansthan has established a new university in Hitanu Dhanari village, a small but historic town on the banks of river Bhagirathi, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, with an objective to impart quality Technical, Scientific and Vocational Education, provide skills to socio-economically enrich the region and prevent brain drain of the youth. It expressed a desire to enable future generations to overcome economic, social backwardness, geographical and environmental barriers and restore cultural identity of local natural and human resources for development.
