Sikkim Professional University is a private university established in 2008. The university is recognized by UGC. Sikkim Professional University (SPU) is located at Metro Point, Tadong, East Sikkim and Budang, Soren, West Sikkim. SPU offers a total of 15 bachelor's degree programs, 11 master's degree programs, and 3 diploma degree programs. The university offers a wide range of courses for students and some of the popular courses include BSc, BBA, LLB, BCom, BA, BPT, MBA, MSc, BPharm, BNursing, DPharm, etc. In the BSc course, students can specialize in Microbiology, EVS, Biotechnology and Agriculture. The university also offers bachelor's degrees in Geography, Tourism and English. Sikkim Polytechnic University considers 12th grade results as a prerequisite for admission while applying for its bachelor's and diploma courses. The minimum requirement for admission is a score of 45%. Candidates who have completed a bachelor's degree can apply for advanced courses.

At SPU, with the help of the Training and Placement Cell, students are provided with a professional platform to fulfill their internship aspirations and requirements. This cell is responsible for providing job opportunities to all the students of the university. With the aim of training and preparing the students, it organizes various activities and programs like interview simulation, aptitude tests, group discussions etc. In addition, the cell organizes industrial internship programs, soft skills programs, entrepreneurship development programs to provide business experience and networking. Cell runs two types of campus placement operations namely on-campus placement operation and pool/off-campus placement operation. The cell follows a specific placement process during on-campus placement operations. h. Interviews followed by technical interviews and personnel round are conducted.
Laboratories: The institute offers excellent practical knowledge to the students with the help of multiple labs. SPU has modern, furnished, and well-maintained labs with comfortable seating space & learning areas. There are labs like Nursing lab, Chemistry lab, Computer lab, Pharmacy lab, Physics lab, and Networking lab. All these labs are spacious as in one go, 100+ students can study.
Library: SPU provides its students with an excellent reading area as the library of this institute has a number of reading materials and multi-format resources. Apart from this, the institute also supports and motivates the use of e-journals as it makes the researching part easier and offers plenty of educational materials.
Hostels: The institute provides excellent accommodation facilities to students traveling from far away locations. The premises of the hostel are located in a peaceful environment and offer safety and security to the students. The rooms are fully furnished, maintained, and homey. Apart from this, the mess area of the hostel offers hygienic, delicious, and healthy food to the students.

Sports: For sports students, SPU provides state-of-the-art facilities with all the required equipments. Facilities for sports like Volleyball, Lawn Tennis, Basketball, Cricket, Badminton, Football, etc are available here. Health Facilities: SPU takes special care of children as it offers proper medical facilities. The institute has all the medical kits and there are ambulances equipped with first aid and medical emergency equipment present on the campus for any kind of emergencies.
