Why The Gandhigram Institute of Rural Health and Family Welfare Trust?

Dr.(Mrs.) T.S. Soundaram set up the Gandhigram Institute of Rural Health and Family Welfare Trust in 1964 as a result of her effective encounters in the Pilot Health Project in Athoor hinder during 1959-64. Embracing the idea of Gandhian helpful projects in its depiction of its exercises, the task spearheaded Community Health Education as the promising idea to balance out the Health and Family Welfare states of the Nation. These spearheading activities incited the Government of Tamil Nadu, Government of India and Ford Foundation to perceive the undertaking as an Institution in the year 1964. 

The goals of the Institute are detailed and reformulated to address the National Health and Family Welfare projects of the Government.
