Why Nupura School of Bharathanatyam?

Nupura School of Bharathanatyam in Malleswaram has built up an enviable reputation in Karnataka, under the guidance of Guru Lalitha Srinivasan a dancer, choreographer and research scholar. Established in 1978 and directed by Guru Smt. Lalitha Srinivasan, Nupura is an organization of repute with an aim to popularize the Mysore School of Bharathanatyam.

What is special about Nupura is its strict adherence to the indigenous form of Bharathanatyam on the one hand, and the innovative spirit it works with, to contemporize its highly communicative art on the other. Not only do Nupurites learn to dance, but also learn theory and to teach, sing, do nattuvangam, under the care and personal attention of the Guru.

Nupura has come to be a flag bearer of the Mysore style of rendition –has made it a mission to imbibe its flavor, customize its intricacies and emerge with a style that typifies grace and dignity and a completely different way of rendering the abhinaya or emotive aspect of the repertoire.
