Why Sankardev College?

The Shrimanta Sankardev Cultural Center established Sankardev College on second September 1962, as a night school, in its own premises. It conceded understudies for the Pre-college (P.U) and the three years course prompting the Bachelor's of Arts (B.A) degree. Just eleven understudies hailing from different networks took confirmation in the principal year of P.U course. Guidelines were given by just seven instructors dealing with low maintenance premise in the school. It turned into an undeniable day-school in 1963 with the B.A courses as yet running in the night move. The school was partnered to Guwahati University for the four year college educations. 

The school began showing courses for the Bachelor's level of Science (B.Sc) qualification in 1973. With the happening to the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) at Shillong in 1973, the school looked for connection with NEHU for its different four year college education courses. Presently its P.U courses are supplanted by the Higher Secondary courses of two years length. 

Keeping with its adage, "Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya" (Lead me from Darkness to Light) it is the undertaking of the College to disseminate the haziness of obliviousness with the light of learning. In this manner, understudies from all pieces of India particularly the North Eastern States are obliged in the school and self supporting understudies are allowed to seek after Higher Education in the Morning Shift. The College does not target producing understudies with just a degree close by, however better individuals prepared to confront the difficulties of life.
