Bahona College is a co-education institute established on 15th July 1966. It is located at Bahona, 9 kms to the North East of Jorhat town toward Nimati Ghat at the river Brahmaputra. The college offers courses of study in arts and Science Streams at Higher Secondary and Undergraduate level. It has Distance Education Programmes under Dibrugarh University, KKHSOU and ASOS from Higher Secondary to Master Degree Level. With a heritage that goes back to more than forty yeaThe College was brought under the system of deficit in 1975. rs, Bahona College unequivocally occupies the place of pride among the institution of higher education affiliated to the Dibrugarh University.Now it has a strength of about 1200 students and 55 teachers and 12 departments. Major is offered by all departments. The Computer Science department is currently functioning as a part of the Mathematics department. This College is the result of a vision of the local people of Bahona and a few distinguished educationists, social activists and political leaders of Jorhat to provide higher education to a large number of rural and economically backward students belonging to Bahona and its neighboring areas. What had started as a humble effort to bring the light of knowledge to this backward area, has now flowered into an institution of recognition rendering quality education to students coming from different parts of Assam. We are committed to continue with the tradition and the vision of our founders.

Admission Process of Bahona College Jorhat

Admission to all courses is done based on a screening test conducted by the university itself and the college also has a reservation for state students.

The eligibility criteria for the courses are a minimum of 40% in the 10+2 examinations given by the candidate for the B.A. program and a minimum of 45% marks for the B.Sc. program.

Admission procedures are available online as well as offline mode and the medium of instruction is English and Assamese.

Bahona College offers UG courses to candidates who have passed their 10+2 examinations and the duration of the courses is usually around 3 years. The basic eligibility criteria involve passing your 10+2 examinations with a minimum of 40% from a recognized university.

For Higher Secondary (Arts) Higher Secondary (Science) a minimum of 40% marks in HSLC and a minimum of 45% marks in HSLC are required.

For B. A. (Semester) Degree Programme a minimum of 40% marks in HS (10+2) (Arts) is required.

For B.Sc. (Semester) Degree Programme a minimum of 45% marks in HS (10+2) (Science is required.

Boys Hostel

The college has limited hostel facilities for boys. the number of seats currently available is only 62 and 66 respectively. The application form for hostel admission may be collected from the office of the college and submitted to the concerning office assistant after getting admission to the college. The superintendent in consultation with the college authority will finalize the list of candidates on the basis of merit. No seat in the hostel can be reserved prior to admission to the college. Hostels remain closed for summer vacation. Those admitted to the hostels will have to abide by the J. B. College Hostel Rules.

The college has a well-stocked library, named KK Handique Library, with a good variety and range of collections. Currently, it houses around 49764 books, national/international journals/periodicals in Assamese, Hindi, and English languages, and subscribes to 15 national and local dailies.

The college has Games and sports facilities are available in the college. An indoor stadium with all kinds of modern facilities is a special feature of the institution.
