Assam University MBA Admission Guidelines
The admission process runs through the following steps -
Eligible students apply for admission by filling out the online form available on the official website of the Assam university
University announces the list of candidates for the written test exam
Qualified students in the written exam conducted by the MBA department of the university & in the CAT will call for the Group Discussion & Personal Interview Round.
Students must have to secure 50% marks in the GD & PI round to appear for the final admission round.
The university released the list of candidates qualified for admission.
Students who have a secure minimum composition score will be asked for the final admission process.

Assam University is an collegiate central public university situated at Silchar, Assam, India. It was founded in 1994 by the provisions of an act enacted by the Parliament of India. The Governor of Assam was the Chief Rector and the President of India was acting as the Visitor of the university. The Chancellor is the ceremonial head of the institute while the executive powers rest with the Vice-chancellor. The university has 16 schools which offer Humanities, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Information Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Technology and Management Studies. There are 42 departments under these 16 schools. The 5 districts under the jurisdiction of the Assam University have 73 undergraduate colleges as on 31 March 2020. Students who have passed their graduation in a subject shall be eligible for admission to a four-semester PostGraduate Course in the respective subjects and those candidates who have passed HS or equivalent examinations (10+2) in the relevant streams shall be eligible for admissions to Undergraduate or five year Integrated study Courses.
Candidates whose qualifying exam result is awaited may also apply for admission. However, such candidates should submit photocopies of the mark sheet and/or certificate of the qualifying examination before the finalization of the admission list by the concerned department. Further, they have to satisfy the additional criteria, if any, set by the Departmental Admission Committee of the concerned department.
Preference in admission will be given to the students having Major or Honours in the relevant subject. However, subject to availability, up to 10 percent of the seats may be filled up with candidates from other related subjects.
Applications from students who have already obtained a Master's Degree from this University or any other university may be considered for admission in any allied subject only if there is any vacancy after considering all other eligible students. Candidates seeking admission for the first time in Assam University have to submit a Migration Certificate within two months of their admission.
Selection of candidates for admission to UG or the Integrated study program will be made solely on the basis of the percentage of marks secured in the qualifying exam. The selection process for the PG program shall be notified at a later date.
The reservation of the seats for admission in each department will be as follows:
Scheduled Caste category (SC) : 15%
Scheduled Tribe category (ST) : 7.5%
Other Backward Class (OBC) : 27%
Students seeking admission under OBC category should submit valid NCL Certificate for the current financial year. There shall be reservations for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) as per GOI directives. Candidates claiming reservations facility under EWS category must submit Income and Asset certificate issued by appropriate authority.
There is a provision for 5% reservation for persons with disability.
For B. Tech. courses 50% of the total seats in each Department are reserved for the candidates of the northeastern region. The Northeastern region comprises Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
There will be a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying (HS/10+2, UG) exam for the students belonging to SC and ST categories as per GOI regulations. However, OBC (NCL) students may also be given a relaxation in the minimum eligibility by the Departmental Admission Committee to the extent of 10% of the minimum eligibility for the UR students. For example, if the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to a course is 50% for the UR candidates, the minimum eligibility for the OBC (NCL) would be 45% (i.e., 50 minus 10% of 50).
All types of reservation of seats for admission as well as relaxation of marks in qualifying exams will be guided by the Govt. of India rules.
Candidates who graduated from the colleges affiliated to Assam University will be eligible for 30% weightage on the aggregate percentage of the marks secured in the qualifying examination for the purpose of merit calculation.
