Noble College is probably the most seasoned organization in India begun by Christian Missionaries. It started as school established in 1843 by Rev.Robert Turlington Noble, who was sent by Church Missionary Society in England for Education and Evangelistic work. In 1864 it was raised to the College grade, subsidiary to Madras University. It prospered as the Leading College in South India until 1938. Lindsay Commission (1938) proposed that Noble College, Machilipatnam and Andhra Christian College, Guntur ought to be combined and a unified College be begun at Vijayawada.
