North Maharashtra University (NMU) is a teaching cum affiliating university in Maharashtra. NMU and its 220 affiliated colleges offer higher education in the fields of the Arts, Management, Education, Science, Computer Applications, Engineering, Commerce and Agriculture.
Admission to the UG courses is granted on the basis of the merit achieved by the candidates in the 10+2 level examination. However, for the B.Tech. course the university accepts valid MHT CET scores only. NMU grants admission to the PG courses on the basis of national-level entrance exams scores such as tje GATE, CAT, MAT, MAH MCA CET.
NMU has been accredited by the NAAC with an ‘A’ grade and a CGPA score of 3.11 on a 4 point scale. Besides, NAAC has also honoured NMU with the prestigious 4 star status. The campus of NMU is spread across a vast area of the 660 acres that includes 2 lakh trees, library, hostel for the boys and girls, sports complex, laboratories, cafeteria, gym, medical facilities, plant tissue culture lab, shuttle service, auditorium, bank, post office, audio visual hall, and convocation Auditorium, daycare centre etc.
The university provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to the needy and meritorious students. It also provides research fellowships so that candidate can continue their studies without any financial hassles.
The training and placement cell of the university provides students with various placement opportunities. The university invited several multinational companies for the placement drives. Some major recruiters are as d Paramatrix and Aurus INC.

NMU offers UG & PG courses with a wide variety of the specializations to the students. The admissions to the various UG courses are offered on the basis of the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the University whereas for the PG courses MA & M.Sc. courses, the students have to qualify the Centralised Admission Process (CAP). Eligibility: The candidate must have completed a bachelor of science from the recognized University with 50% marks in the aggregate (45% for reserved categories)
M.Tech.
Duration: 2 years
Fees: INR 25,000/yr
Specialisation: Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Paints Technology, Environmental Science and the Engineering, Vlsi Technology
Eligibility: The candidate must have completed B.E. or B.Tech. from a recognised University and in the relevant specialisation with at least 50% marks in the aggregate
Selection criteria: The admission is granted on the basis of merit scores achieved by the students in the GATE entrance examination
Ph.D.
Duration: 3 years
Fees: NA
Eligibility: The students must have completed a master’s degree in the relevant specialization with at least 50% marks in the aggregate
The admission is granted on the basis of the Ph.D. entrance exam + aggregate marks achieved by the students in PG degree examinations.
· According to the surveys conducted by Unirank in 2021, NMU has achieved 161st rank among Indian Universities whereas 5917th rank among the universities of the world.
· NMU has been placed at the 15th position among the universities of Maharashtra and at 1715th position among the universities of Asia in 2021 by the Edurank.
· It has been ranked 66 In the Overall category by the QS.
Candidates seeking admission to the NMU can register online through the official website and submit the required application form along with the application fee. The necessary steps to the follow during the application process are given below:
· Fill in all the required details in the form.
· Upload all the requisite documents as mentioned in the form.
· Pay the application fee of the INR 300 through challan of Central Bank of India (CBI).
· Take a printout of the duly filled form and visit the nearest ‘Application Receipt Centers’ and get the documents verified.
NMU provides several scholarships as financial assistance to needy and meritorious candidates so that they can continue their studies smoothly. Mentioned below are the different scholarship programs:
· Postgraduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for the single child: This scholarship is offered to the only one girl child of the family.
· Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship: This fellowship is offered to the students of SC or ST categories, who are on their way to pursue M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in the Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Engineering and Technology.
· Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Research Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to candidates who are pursuing research work related to life and works of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
· The placement percentage of the NMU is quite good, almost 75% of students were offered with the highest salary package of INR 6 LPA whereas the lowest package was INR 2 LPA in the 2021.
· In the placement program of 2020, out of 120 students, 90 students are recruited in various multinational companies.

Gymnasium: The NMU has the well-developed and furnished gymnasium. The gymnasium consists of the 12 sections, wrist Conditioner, Vertical Leg Press, Standing Leg Squat, Pumping Cycle, Exercise Cycle With the rowing Action, Pulling, Twister, Roman Chair, Hyperextension, Bench Press cum Shoulder Press, high pulling, dipping hip flexor etc. The facility of the constructor is also provided in the gymnasium.
Sports: the university also provides sports facilities in the indoor and outdoor stadiums. The games which are played include an 8 lane running track with the hockey and football ground, Kabaddi ground, kho kho grounds, basketball, volleyball, tennis court, and ball badminton.
Library: The well maintained central library of the NMU has a collection of various books, journals and periodicals on the different subjects. There are also 4000+ E journals available. Besides this, the university has almost the 8,700 prestigious high impact research journals in the world.
