Governor of United Provinces got the credit for conceiving a large Central College at Allahabad. CRET is Combined Research Entrance Test is divided into 3 different levels and is conducted by the University of Allahabad for entrance into Ph.D. study programs.

* Level 1 includes a written exam. There will be 50 questions (for Section A) each carrying 4 marks. Section B also includes the 50 questions to evaluate the subject proficiency of the students.

* Level 2 is more of a subjective-based exam and the sections cover questions on the subject expertise and research aptitude. The total time allotted for the completion of the section is 3 hours and the total marks are 200. There will be 3 sections for this level including the short, medium, and the long answer type.
