Harish Chandra Postgraduate College, Varanasi is a Govt. helped school and is one of the head seat of learning of Eastern U.P. under the protection of Harish Chandra Vidyalaya Samiti (a non productive beneficent establishment enrolled under Indian Society Act 1860.) 

Bharatendu Harishchandra, the profounder of the advanced Hindi Language established this organization with five understudies of the region in 1866. By1910,the foundation had begun High School Classes. The Intermediate Classes began in year 1939. 

The Undergraduate Classes in Arts and Commerce started on oct. 4, 1951.At first; the school was associated to Banaras Hindu University. The acknowledgment of the Law Classes was made conceivable in the year 1958
