GITAM SOCIETY’S OBJECTIVE of providing accessible, affordable and quality Dental Education and Oral Health Care to North Coastal Andhra, led to the conception of "GITAM Dental College & Hospital". The Dental College and Hospital was established in the year 2001 with an annual intake of 40 students and from the academic year 2003-04 the annual intake is increased to 100 students. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India issued letter of recognition for BDS Degree awarded by Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada with respect to BDS Students of GITAM Dental College & Hospital, Visakhapatnam, vide their letter F.No.V-12017/31/2003-DE, dt.25-06-2008.GITAM Dental College & Hospital is one of the premier educational institutions offering quality and affordable Dental care in India. The Dental College has excellent infrastructure with over 2,25,000 sq. ft. Of built up area and is the largest of its kind in Andhra Pradesh. It has well equipped state-of-the-art library, modern clinical departments and pre-clinical and clinical laboratories. There is free transport facility for the patients and the treatment is also provided free of cost for the deserving poor.GITAM Dental College & Hospital has a blend of experienced and knowledgeable, and young and dedicated team of professionals who are very competent and highly qualified. The staff are constantly engaged in guiding the students towards acquiring expertise in both theory & clinical aspects of Dental and basic medical sciences. Quality education is imparted with the latest technical know-how. Computer Laboratory
Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e-resource center, which provides access to e-resources among other things.
Library
Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full-text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.
Canteen
The College campus has a spacious and well-ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.
Seminar Rooms
The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
