Admission Process of Malabar College of Engineering and Technology

Malabar College of Engineering and Technology was established in the year 1978 with a mission to provide the students with a firm grounding in scientific and mathematical fundamentals expertise in the analysis, synthesis, and design of engineering systems. The institute offers undergraduate (B-tech) and postgraduate (M-tech) programs in various disciplines.

For seeking admission in b-tech (management seat), the candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination with 45% aggregate marks and must have passed the Kerala engineering entrance examination (KEAM).

Students admitted under the NRI quota are exempted from the KEAM examination. For B.Tech(lateral entry), candidates must have passed the diploma in engineering/technology with a duration of 3 years.

For M.Tech, the candidate must have passed the undergraduate course with aggregate 60% marks and must have passed the GATE examination.

For the regular batch, the candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination with 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biology and must have passed the KEAM.

For lateral entry, 10% of seats are additionally sanctioned to provide direct admission to 2nd year of b-tech. Candidates must have passed the diploma course in Engineering/Technology from any institute with a duration of 3 years to get admission to this program. Malabar College of Engineering and Technology campus is spread over an area of 10.5 acres with great infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, and other facilities. The engineering institute is affiliated with APJ Abdul KalamTechnological university and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) and Govt of Kerala.

Boys Hostel

The College Men’s hostel can accommodate around 300 students. Deluxe and semi-deluxe rooms are available. Well-arranged and spacious mess halls and kitchen meet all the demands of inmates in time without any compromise on hygiene. Various recreational facilities are also made available here.

Girls Hostel

The College ladies hostel block ‘A’ is named after Kamala Kaul Nehru, wife of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. This block can house 300 students and the ‘B’ block of women’s hostel is named after our illustrious former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

Gym

The College Fitness Center houses an ultra-modern gymnasium, catering to the needs of fitness enthusiasts. Staff and students use the gymnasium under the guidance of professional trainers.

The College Central Library is located on the ground floor of the Brahmagupta block and is the real center of learning. Since I am a student from the computer science branch there are lots of opportunities available. There are lots of placements for the computer science branch. Even another branch student also gets placed in computer science streams. Starting from the 6th semester the students get placed at various companies like Wipro, TCS, Infosys etc. More than 180+ companies provide offers for the placements. More than 60% of students get placed in the computer science branch. I would like to open up my own business after completing my degree. There are some hours allocated for placement training in the first year itself. And from the second year, there is a separate 5-day placement training sections per semester. Also, some webinars are conducted sometimes. Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Paytm, Cognizant, AtosGlobal etc.. are the main companies who visit our college. Almost 70% of students are getting placed in my department. The recruitment is mainly from the CS department. The average salary package offered is about 3.5lac per year.From 6th semester they are eligible for campus placement. 2000+ students were placed on recent campus placements. My plan is to plan and prepare for the campus placements. Many offers upto 10 lakhs per annum is the greatest offer.Campus placements starts generally from the seventh semester in the fourth year. Nehru institutions have a lot of hold with multinational companies so a lot of companies like TCS, BPL, Amazon are offering placements to students who have no back papers. The highest package offered by companies is 9lakhs per year and the average salary is 4000/month. Mainly placements are offered to computer science engineering students comparatively.
