Why Dinabandhu Andrews College?

The Dinabandhu Andrews College was established within the year 1956 as per the call of state of India|Bharat|Asian country|Asian nation} [Government of India letter No. BH-5(5)/55-Genl., dated 07.01.1956] to sanction the institution of five new schools on a sponsored basis for the education in the main of displaced students from East Pakistan, currently People's Republic of Bangladesh, at Jadavpur, Baisnabghata, Narkeldanga, Dum Dum, and Bon-Hooghly. 

The college at Baisnabghata, Garia came to its existence in 1956 beneath the theme of state of West Bengal titled ‘Scheme for putting in new schools to alleviate congestion within the existing schools in Calcutta’ as per Government of West Bengal Order No. 7805-Edn., dated 24/25th Gregorian calendar month, 1956 with affiliation within the then ‘Intermediate’ and Degree Courses each in arts and Science. 

The Dinabandhu Andrews College started discharging its academic responsibilities within the building of Garia Baroda Prasad highschool situate on Garia Station Road till its own building started taking from inside a really short time.

Academic Growth of the College

Being related with Calcutta University, Dinabandhu Andrews College had solely many courses (Arts and Science) at the Intermediate and college boy level followed by the introduction of recent subjects and courses of all streams (Arts, Science, and Commerce) at the overall (General) and Advance (Honours) level.
