Don Bosco College of Teacher Education (DBCTE) is named after Don Bosco, the great educator and friend of youth. He had a difficult childhood. By dint of hard work and heroic sacrifices he became a priest in 1841. He dedicated himself to the service of poor youth, offering them food, shelter and education. He opened for them schools, technical schools, hostels and oratories. He founded a society of collaborators and extended his work to all over Europe and eventually to all continents. Don Bosco died on 31 January 1888 and was declared a saint on 1 April 1934.He founded the Don Bosco Society, also known as ‘The Salesians of Don Bosco’. The society has over 32,000 members (men and women) working in 132 countries. Through a global network of educational and social service organizations which include 15 universities, 58 institutes of higher education and thousands of schools and social development centres, it cares for the less privileged and marginalized sections of society. It currently caters to over fifteen million young people the world over. Because of its reach and expertise in the field of education, the Society enjoys consultancy status at the United Nations.In India, the Salesians of Don Bosco began their operations way back in 1906. From a small beginning with a trade school and hostel for poor children at Thanjavoor, Tamil Nadu, the Society today has over 5000 members (Fathers, Sisters and Brothers). The Society started its work in Northeast in 1922. Its services are offered through 31 colleges, over 100 technical schools, and a large network of high schools and scores of non-formal technical and agricultural training centres, spread across the country, covering the entire spectrum of social development. The society also runs literacy centres, shelters for street children and rehabilitation and relief operations.Don Bosco College of Teacher Education (DBCTE) Tura is a teacher training institution of the Salesian of Don Bosco established and managed by the Don Bosco Society in India, Northeast Region. Don Bosco College of Teacher Education is a Registered Society under the Society Registration ct of 1860 (Reg. No. SR/TDBC-232/91 of 1991). The College has been granted recognition by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) by its order No. ERC/7-40(ER-40.4.1)/2003/3415 dated 11.12.2003. The college, recognised by the Government of Meghalaya, is affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong.Guided by the moral and educational philosophy of St John Bosco, Don Bosco College of Teacher Education (DBCTE) envisions generations of in-service and pre-service teachers qualified and motivated to impart quality education at the secondary and higher secondary levels.

Computer Laboratory

Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e resource center, which provides access to e resources among other things.

Library

Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.

Canteen

The College campus has a spacious and well ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.

Seminar Rooms

The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state of the art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
