Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Engineering & Technology, Pauri Garhwal (Formerly known as Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College) is an Institute with total commitment to quality and excellence in academic pursuits. The Institute established in 1989, as an autonomous body, with a view to fulfil the ever-growing demand for well-trained professionals. It is one of the few premier institutes imparting technical education in the state of Uttarakhand. The Institute started its first academic session from 1991-92 with a limited intake. The Institute was then affiliated to the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar (Garhwal). From the academic year 2006-2007, the institute got affiliated to the Uttarakhand Technical University, Pauri year by year and getting disaffiliated from the H.N.B. Garhwal University. Since the academic year 2012-2013, the institute got fully autonomous. The Institute is a fully residential leading institution of the State, offering degree courses in highly sought-after disciplines of Bio-Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Civil Engineering. The institute also offers Masters degree courses in Computer Applications, and M.Tech. Courses in Digital Signal Processing, Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering and Bio-Technology. From 2013-2014 the institute started providing Doctoral courses.

Library : The college consists of a huge library with a large collection of books, magazines, and journals.
Laboratories : The college has fully equipped labs of nursing with sufficient space for a batch of 70 students. The laboratories include demonstrations on beds and articles to practice different Nursing procedures.
I.T Infrastructure : The college has well well-equipped Computer Lab with the latest Computers and printers and with a high-speed internet facility. We encourage students to learn more about technology as it helps them in their nursing careers.
Auditorium : The College also consists of a large Auditorium, a Multipurpose Hall, and a Common Room for various events and activities. The hall and auditorium are equipped with all the facilities needed to cater to the talent of students.
Classrooms : There are many classrooms with a sitting capacity of more than 70 students in each classroom. The rooms are spacious and airy so the students feel comfortable and can concentrate on their studies.

Candidates are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria and then appear for the entrance test (JEE Main).
After securing a valid score in JEE Main, candidates have to register in the Uttarakhand Technical University counselling process. (Note: Uttarakhand Technical University is now known as Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University).
While registering, candidates have to prioritise GBPIET (as college choice) and the desired GBPIET B.Tech specialisation.
After the registration, candidates have to clear the cutoff set by the university for admission to the particular course.
After surpassing the cutoff, seats are allotted to candidates. Selected candidates have to get their documents verified and pay the fee to confirm admission.
