Admissions Open in Government Women's College

A couple of fair ladies, all from good foundation, shared a fantasy in mid 1960s. Their fantasy was straightforward : to set up a school in Puri town only for ladies. Some of them even went to the degree of selling potatoes in the city as a major aspect of a gathering pledges crusade to emerge their fantasy. Smt. Pratima Mishra, Smt. Kuntala Kumari Acharya brilliant names both-initiated the crusade for a ladies' school. Preservationist society and culture not withstanding, they overcame mockery and remained on their feet, and all the more critically, adhered to their main goal. Initiated Mahila College, their fantasy school was conceived in 1961 under private school the executives in mahavirprasad Dharmasala on rental premise. The huge factor is, a school was conceived for ladies. The idea of "engage ment" was not in money at that point, yet these ladies recognized what they were doing. The school began with just six understudies and five speakers under the principalship of the eminent teacher Kishor Mohan Dwivedi. It was inevitable for the Government of Odisha to pay heed and give upon the College the status of its being a Govt. School in 1965. Praises projects began in 1970. furthermore, Govt. Ladies' Junior school was built up in 2001 with Arts stream as it were. The science and trade streams in +2 have opened from 2013-14 session. 

The College, sadly, kept running in a leased structure for a really long time an opportunity to truly go for extension. After a long pause, the school moved house to its very own grounds just in 2002, that is, after around 42 years ! It currently keeps running on a 3.5 sections of land grounds, hid all around by trees and greenery with offices satisfactory to its scholarly prerequisite. The new building was initiated by Hon'ble Chief Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik on 10.12.2002. Moving to the area denoted an exacting second birth of the school.
