Why St. Stephen's College?

Our College is named after St. Stephen (first century), one of the initial seven appointed Deacons and the principal Martyr of Christianity. His account and a detailed apologia by him before Jewish board are recorded in the Book of Acts, part 7 (Bible). In spite of the fact that by birth a Hellenistic diaspora Jew, he was raised by his mom as a genuine Christian. Defending the significance of his name (Stephen=Crown) he was really a 'crown' of the Church. He was a perfect representation of Christ in each sense and was a man loaded with confidence, astuteness and of the Holy Spirit. He educated in the Synagogue of the Libertines. He was blamed for obscenity before the Jewish gathering and was then battered to the point of death and keeping in mind that perishing, he petitioned God for the acquittal of his informers. We ought to be pleased with having St. Stephen as our Patron Saint. We ought to guzzle from him the message of penance, pardoning and responsibility and attempt to be crowns of the general public.
