Welcare College of Nursing is a venture of Welcare Medical & Educational Trust which aims to establish various medical and paramedical educational institutions in Kerala. The Welcare Medical & Educational Trust is headed by its Chairman , Mr. P M Sebastian. The College was started in the academic year 2010-11 for B.Sc Nursing. Post basic B.Sc Nursing was started in the academic year 2011-12. The College has all the physical facilities prescribed by the statutory bodies. The college has efficient and dedicated faculty who is really interested in the welfare of students. Welcare College of Nursing is keen to impart high quality nursing education aimed at all-round development of the student. The college is recognized by Indian Nursing Council, Kerala Nurses & Midwive’s Council, Govt. of Kerala and Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. The College has entered into agreement with Govt. of Kerala regarding fees and seat sharing through Private Nursing College Management Association. The results of University examinations are promising.
INC - Indian Nursing Council
Candidates for admission to the course of Bachelor of Science in Nursing shall be required to have passed the Higher Secondary Course / Pre-Degree Course or any other course with 10+2 years recognised as equivalent there to by University of Calicut with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optionals with minimum 50% aggregate marks. Selection is made on the basis of merit and as per regulations prescribed by Government/University. Both Government Quota and Management Quota selection is based on merit.
Eligibility for admission: Successful completion of General Nursing & Midwifery course(GNM) of 3 yrs / 3 ½ yrs duration recognised by Indian Nursing Council. One Year clinical experience (after registration as Nurse) as Staff nurse in a hospital with not less than 100 beds. Shall be registered in Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council at the time of admission.
Girls Hostel
The college has a girl's hostel facility. Rooms are spacious, and provided with a cot, table, bookshelf, cupboard, and chairs. The hostel is provided with provision for telephone, television, refrigerator, etc. Sports and recreation facilities are provided for inmates.
Medical/Hospital
The college has its own Hospital (WellCare HOSPITAL) for the students.
Library
There are more than 3200 professional books in the Library. There are also about 20 periodicals including foreign & Indian journals. The library also offers internet facilities.
