The Pondicherry Veterinary College later rechristened as Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (RAGACOVAS) is presently renamed as the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (RIVER). The Pondicherry Veterinary College Society (PVCS) is administered by the Board of Governors with the Secretary (Animal Husbandry and Animal Welfare), Government of Puducherry as the Chairman and the Dean, RIVER as Member-Secretary. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research is completely financed by the Government of Puducherry and partnered to the Pondicherry University. Since its commencement the organization has gained marvelous ground inferable from the superb help reached out by the Board of Governors and the Government of Puducherry. The Academic Departments have been set up according to the compulsory stipulations of the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) and the present staff quality is 58.
