Madhya Kamrup College is one of the premier institutions of higher education for boys and girls in one of the traditionally enlightened districts of Assam. It was established on 9th August, 1971 at Subha which is now a model village mostly inhabited by tribal people and located in the Chenga-Bahari area at the East-end of Barpeta district (formerly undivided Kamrup district of Assam).The college has been sanctioned ad-hok grant vide DHE letter No-G(A)RC.12/77/pt/209-25 dated-Kahilipara, the 2nd December 1977 & was taken over under deficit system of Grant-in-Aid w.e.f.1979 vide DHE letter No-G(A)RC/79/69 dated Kahilipara, the 3rd June 1980. It is heartening to note that the college is affiliated to Gauhati University and wasa brought under 2(F) & 12(B) of UGC Act in 2009 and now it is a provincialised college of Assam( vide Assam college Provincialised Act 2005).The area as it is surrounded by the adjoining char areas has a very ideal location. Students from different parts of the char areas have been studying here. The College has emerged as a pioneer institution with its glorious contribution to the field of education within a short span of time. It is owing to the commitment and dedication of the teaching and non-teaching staff and the perseverance of the students. The guardians of the locality have also contributed to a great extent for the growth of the institution. The selfless devotion and sacrifice of the local people have graduated this institution into a famous college of present Barpeta district and now it is standing with its head high as their cherished offspring.

The Central Library of N.H. College, named after Late Harendra Nath Sarma, a doyen in the sphere of education, and Late Chakradhar, a generous personality was founded in 1979. At the initial stage, it was managed by Dr. P.C. Goswami with N.Das and H.N.Sarma as assistants. It has an intact 2000 titles. At present, the Central Library is in a flourishing state with an intact about 14,000 titles, Textbooks, References, Theses, Encylopedia, Magazines, Journals, and newspapers.

I have noticed that there are ample professional opportunities available in this college as there are plenty of on-campus interviews happening at each time around the end of the year for the students of the third year and the final year of any course.I don't know. I think they don't care about our job. I am studying in a rural area where job is not matter. Actually I'm not interested in job. We just need to educated. I have never seen a company in my college.The college doesn't offer professional courses but only general courses and therefore it is hard to find a very good placement immediately after completing B.Sc. or B.A. However there is a functional placement cell in the college and some companies do come for requirement. No, it doesn't provide any internship.We don't have placement opportunities but have a wider scope to explore our desired jobs. We have had politicians, singers, artists, actors, as the Alma mater of our college. Students from our college have gone for higher studies and achieved great heights in life.There is no placement cell in the college. Most of the students can get placement on the basis of their capabilities and drive.Sometimes some companies come to hire students from our college. Students do internship from different reputed institution throughout the country such as IIT Guwahati.
The placements and job opportunities is not that good of our college. The companies which come over are local companies and do not have much exposure for the freshers.
