In view of the Agro-ecology a new Agricultural University in the Bihar Plateau, as the Birsa Agricultural University was created in the Tribal region covering 46% of land area of the Bihar and was inaugurated by the then Prime Minster of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi on 26th June 1981. The University was created with the great efforts of Sri Kartik Oraon a renowned parliamentarian and social leader of Chotanagpur plateau region.
