St Dominic’s College was started in 1965 under the Catholic management of St Dominic’s Forane Church, Kanjirappally, to cater to the higher educational needs of the parish in particular, and of the eastern parts of the Archdiocese of Changanacherry in general. This was the fulfillment of a long-felt need of this region which was one of the educationally backward areas in Kerala. When the new Diocese of Kanjirappally was formed in 1977, St Dominic’s College assumed the unique distinction of being the only institution offering higher education in the whole diocese.To build up a student community that is intellectually competent, morally upright and sensitive to the needs of fellow human beings.To serve economically and socially disadvantaged students by providing high-quality education to all and thereby transforming our nation sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledgesociety.To train the students in clarity of thought and accuracy of expression and to develop leadership qualities in them. To instill in the students a sense of responsibility to the nation and ensure their creative involvement in building up a new India.

Red Ribbon Club, St. Dominic's College
The Red Ribbon Club, St. Dominic's College started in 2009 .It aims at providing youth with access to information on HIV/AIDS, causes, care, prevention, support, treatment etc. and the importance of voluntary blood donations. The Club also aims at providing awareness on both physical and social consequences of Drug Abuse.

The Training & Placement Cell facilitates the process of placement of students passing out The Training and Placement Cell of our institute vigorously endeavors at shaping up the career prospectus of its students by exposing them to the actual world of work through a close rapport and liaison with industry and business houses .It extends hand holding support to its student for their appropriate placement on completion of their course of studies from the college .It acts as a two way bridge between the faculty / students of institute and the industry, which helps in flow of academic knowledge from institute and knowledge of practical operations and latest trends and techniques from the industry. This helps in meeting the dynamically changing demands of the industry/ workplace .
