It was the year 1965, and a number of young, enthusiastic and visionary gem traders gathered at an old office in Zaveri Bazaar Bombay to discuss and shape their dream of establishing a gemology institute in the country. . They are none other than Shri Kirtilal K. Doshi, Shri Rajendrakumar A. Shah, Late Shri Himmatbhai C. Jhaveri, Shri Padmakant H. Jhaveri and Shri Pravin M. Nanavati. Thanks to their untiring efforts over the next six years, resulting the Gemmological Institute of India was born on 12th April 1971. The Gemmological Institute of India (GII) was established under the aegis of the Gem & Jewellery Exporters’ Association, Mumbai. The institute is registered as a non-profit Public Charitable Trust.

Library: The College is spacious and airy. He owns more than 2,500 books and subscribes to 16 monthly magazines. Reference books and journals are added continuously. It provides valuable insights into the pharmaceutical industry, research and development, and drug analysis.
Boys Hostel: The College has a Male Hostel that provides good accommodation for students.
Girls Hostel: The College has a Girls' Hostel, which provides good Hostel accommodation for students.
Laboratories : The College has departmental laboratories for students, such as pharmacy laboratories, medicinal chemistry laboratories, human anatomy and physiology courses, pharmacology laboratories, pharmacology and toxicology, biochemistry, hospital laboratory and clinical pharmacy. Computers are also available.
Sports: The College has sports facilities available to all students.
Auditorium: The College has an auditorium for events and seminars.
