Why Central Arid Zone Research Institute?

The Central Arid Zone Research Institute, prominently known as CAZRI, is one of the greatest research establishments of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), an independent association working under the aegis of the Department of Agriculture Research and Education (DARE) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of Government of India. CAZRI has the qualification of being one of the primary establishments on the planet solely gave to parched zone innovative work. The foundation made a modest start in 1952 when Government of India started Desert Afforestation Research Station at Jodhpur to do inquire about on sand ridge adjustment and for foundation of haven belt estates to capture wind disintegration. It was redesigned as Desert Afforestation and Soil Conservation Station in 1957 lastly in its present structure 'Focal Arid Zone Research Institute' in 1959 on suggestion of the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) master, Prof. C.S. Christian of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia. In 1966, the establishment was brought under the managerial control of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.
