Why Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped?

Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) (AYJNISHD(D)) was set up on ninth August 1983. It is an independent association under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Government of India, New Delhi. The Institute is situated at Bandra (West), Mumbai – 400 050. 

Provincial Centers of the Institute have been set up at Kolkata (1984), New Delhi (1986), Secundarabad (1986) and Bhubaneshwar (1986-in relationship with Government of Orissa). These are focuses planned for gathering the nearby and territorial needs as far as labor advancement and administrations. Local Center at New Delhi has been moved to Noida in 2015.and Regional focus at Bhubaneswar has been moved to Janla in 2008. 

The District Disability Rehabilitation Center (DDRCs) under Gramin Punarvasan Yojana (GPY) a program of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India was begun in the year 2000. The target of the program is to furnish all out recovery to people with tactile (hearing and vision), physical and mental handicaps. 

Under this program, 24 DDRCs were distributed to AYJNISHD(D). All the 24 DDRCs, on finish of effective foundation and running for a long time, are given over to State Governments/District Administration/NGO.
