The primary Homeopathic Medical College in Kerala and first Govt. Homeopathic Medical Degree College in Asia. This establishment is outstanding amongst other Homeopathic foundations in India. The school is offshoots to Kerala University of Health Sciences since 2010. It was subsidiary to Calicut University till 2010. The school has conspicuous Faculty and built up Alumni.
HISTORY
Govt. of Kerala chose to begin homeopathic medicinal universities in the state for granting homeopathic restorative training to create qualified alumni and post graduates, and to broaden the advantage for a financially savvy arrangement of treatment in the entirety of its circles to the mass. In like manner the principal organization was begun at Kozhikode in 1975 vide GO. Ms. No – 237/75/HD dated 8-10-1975 under the directorate of Homeopathy. Dr. K.S. Prakasam was selected as the main head. This school was initiated on 24-1-1976 and began working at the Govt. Homoe medical clinic, Vellayil. The admission to the principal group was led on twelfth and 13thDecember 1975. The classes for the principal bunch were begun on 1976.
This school was bifurcated from the division of Homeopathy vide G.O No. 286/80/HD dated 31-10-1980 and made a different office.
The school was moved to the present area at Karaparamba during November 1976. At first the preclinical classes were locked in at Medical College, Calicut. Later two squares of Govt. Area Hospital (Beach Hospital) was assigned for giving the office to para-clinical and clinical offices. The Govt. Homoeo Hospital was moved to the Beach Hospital structures on 29-6-1979. The structure of Govt. Homoeo Hospital at Vellayil was changed over to Men's Hostel.
The establishment stone for the primary square of the present structure at Karaparamba was laid on 1982. The Outpatient area began working at Karaparamba during 1984. The para-clinical and clinical divisions were moved to present site during 1987.
At first 30 understudies were admitted to BHMS course which was later expanded to 50. The BHMS (direct) degree course is reaching out over a time of 5 ½ years including 1 year entry level position.
This school has run the evaluated BHMS course of 2 ½ years term for confirmation holders in homeopathy.
MD (hom) in the subjects of Materia medica and Homeopathic way of thinking were begun in 1991 and MD (hom) degree course in Repertory was presented in 1996. From the year 2005 MD (hom) degree courses were begun in two additional subjects (Homeopathic drug store and Practice of Medicine). The term of Md (Hom) degree course is 3 years including 1 year house work. The understudy admission is 6 in each subject.
