Our university is run by the Shri Shivaji Educational Society, which was founded in 1956 by the late Dr. Amravati, a great visionary educator and India's first Minister of Agriculture. Punjabrao alias Bausaheb Deshmukh was established. The university began with a Faculty of Arts and later added a Faculty of Commerce in 1964. The Faculty of Natural Sciences was established in 1984. Since then, the university offers training in the Faculty of Humanities. Graduate, postgraduate and doctoral study programs from the College of Commerce, Junior College and MCVC. The university has competent staff. The university has well-equipped laboratories, large central and undergraduate libraries, a beautiful campus, hostels, and large playgrounds. In 2010, the University Grants Commission, New Delhi awarded it the status of 'University with Outstanding Potential'. The university was recertified by NAAC, Banglore in January 2013 with Grade B with CGPA2.88.
