Why North India Institute of Post Graduate Theological Studies?

The Post graduates courses of both the Master of Theology (M.Th) and Doctor of Theology (D.Th) are offered under the North India Institute of Post-Graduate Theological Studies (NIIPGTS), mutually supported by Serampore College and Bishop’s College. It began working from June 1980. The prelude of its constitution worked out by the joint sub-board of trustees of both the Colleges on third May 1979 states: 

So as to abstain from copying the work in post-graduate instructing and so as to offer mutually what the two universities can't viably offer separately, Seramporeâ College and Bishop’s College propose to set up a joint workforce comprising of equipped staff drawn from the two Colleges. Such an organization would meet a squeezing requirement for a Center of cutting edge philosophical investigation and research in North India. The two Colleges would share their assets of faculty and library for cutting edge religious instruction. 

Points and Objectives: The contemporary difficulties that the congregation in India faces with regards to religious arousing and social pluralism, the issues of neediness and equity, and the worries raised by freedom developments require a relevant and all encompassing way to deal with higher philosophical examinations giving likewise consideration to our legacy.
