K.L.N. College of Engineering is the first self-financing Co-educational Engineering College in Madurai, started in 1994 by Munificence of Philanthropist and well wishers in Sourashtra Community which is a linguistic minority in Tamilnadu. This college is sponsored by the committee of eminent industrialists and academicians led by enthusiastic, educationalist and industrialist (Late) Thiru K.L.N. Krishnan. This college has the approval of All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.Thiru. K.L.N. Krishnan, Founder President of this Engineering College has rendered Yeoman service to Sourashtra Arts & Science College and Sourashtra Girls Higher Secondary School, Madurai for the past several years. He also promited a Polytechnic under the name of K.L. Nagaswamy Memorial Polytechnic College in Viraganur, Madurai in 1983. This Engineering College, functioned in the premises of the above polytechnic during the academic years 1994-95 & 1995-96 was shifted to its own premises in the year 1996.(Late) Thiru K.L.N. Krishnan is the Founder President, and the college is now under the management of Dr. K.N.K. Ganesh as Secretary & Correspondent and other executive committee members.

Men's Hostel
There are four separate blocks (P.G. block, Final year block, First year and New Block) located inside the campus for Men’s hostel students accommodating about 900 students with spacious dining halls . Each block consists of Single room, double room & Triple room facility and all the rooms are well furnished. A huge mess with dining hall, kitchen and other facilities are provided to students. The hostel is under the direct control of the Warden. The warden is assisted by the Executive and Residential Wardens in the day to day administration. Student representatives also assist the warden in running the hostel effectively, pertaining to the facilities and amenities in the hostel.. Hostel menu is decided by the students mess committee under the guidance of Executive and Residential Warden in order to provide standard and hygienic food for the inmates.
Canteen
College Canteen has a special role to play in the education, health and well being of the students, as well as teaching and non teaching staff of the college. Our college has two canteens and it is conveniently located in the middle of the college. It has properly maintained kitchen and adequate seating facilities to accommodate students and staff even during peak time. It provides a variety of wholesome, tasty snacks; soft drinks and food at a reasonable price. Students are permitted to make use of the facilities only during tea break & lunch break. College pays special attention regarding the quality of food-items and cleanliness of the canteen. Staff members are deputed to monitor, the smooth functioning of the Canteen during lunch break. In addition, water coolers have been provided for the benefit of students of each canteen. It is a place where students unwind and relax with friends to enjoy good quality, delicious and healthy food at nominal rates. Our College Canteen Committee is requested to inspect the Canteen and submit periodical report about the proper functioning of the canteen at frequent intervals.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Our college has a very good Football field, Cricket circle, Ball badminton court(2 Nos.) and Volleyball court(3 Nos.), indoor badminton court(2 Nos.), Hand Ball court, A 400 mts. Standard Track, Long jump pit and High jump pit are available. A separate recreation room is available for carom, chess and table tennis.
Weight Training Room
A weight training room is available in the hostel with barbell apparatus, 100 kg weight plates, bench press and a Fore Arm Curl.
Yoga
As a part of man building education, the department is conducting scientific yoga and meditation practice classes to the interested students under the guidance of an expert in Transcendental Meditation and Yoga.
Milestone
The department of physical education functions hand in hand with the academic side by its quality and creativity through pragmatic activities.StageIts ultimate aim is to bring the harmonious development to the students. From the inception of our college under the affiliation of the University, it is sending players and Athletes regularly to inter-university Tournaments with strong volleyball, Cricket and Ball badminton teams.

Training and Placement Cell is functioning with Training & Placement Officer, Associate Training and Placement Officer along with two staff members as co-ordinator from each department and student representatives as members of Training and Placement Cell.The main purpose of the Training and Placement Cell is to impart skills such as aptitude, reasoning, technical and soft skills that would aid in the employability of the students.
