Shivaji College of education was started in 1972 through the efforts of Rtd additional commissioner for public instruction Late Shri V. B. Desai. It is one of the oldest B.Ed College in Karnataka. Till today it has made an incredible mark in the arena of education. For over four decades, the college has bloomed spreading its fragrance with budding teachers assiduously nurtured and groomed toward excellence to serve the society. The college is affiliated to the Karnatak University Dharwad and has been recognized by NCTE and University Grand Commission Under Section 2(f) 12B.The institution is located in a pollution free campus with 5-03-0 acres of land. Building constructed as per the guidelines of NCTE norms.The Shivaji Eduation Society established in the year 1945 under the leadership of Late Shri Shankar. Babi. Savant, with a motive of catering the educational need of young aspirants of educationally backward area in around Karwar Taluka. It has successfully completed more than 70 years of its contribution to the community and education. The institution has attained pre-eminence in education and expanded its forte and today is busting with academic institution namely Shivaji Primary & Secondary Schools, Shivaji PU College, Arts College, BCA College and Shivaji B.Ed and D.Ed Training institution.Karwar is an beautiful unexplored beach tourism destination surrounded by Arabian Sea on one side and the Western Ghats on the other. The picturesque town with hills and valleys covered with dense tropical jungle, complemented by glorious weather is a heaven for travellers. The town of Karwar is situated 12 kms south of Goa-Karnataka border on the bank of river Kali. Karwar and Gokarna (38 kms from Karwar), are slowly giving strong competition to Goa with their pristine white sandy beaches lined with palm trees and developing tourism infrastructure.The main beaches of Karwar are the main beach and Binaga beach, located in Binaga town about 3 km from Karwar. One of the main tourist attraction of Karwar is the Sadashivgad Fort that is located on top of a hill next to River Kali. Another must visit attraction for travellers is the Warship museum which a decommissioned ship that has been converted into a navy musem. There are also some religious places worth a visit here including Narasimha temple, Durga temple, Shri Ayyappa temple, and Dargah of Pir Shamsuddin Kharobat. The confluence point of River Kali with the Arabian sea is also a picturesque tourist spot in city.The tranquil ambience of the place had inspired the famed poet, Rabindranath Tagore to pen his first play here. There is a yearly festival known as 'Karavali Festival' held on the Tagore beach in Karwar which is visited by tourists from Karnataka and neighboring Goa state. The city also provides options of water sports activities for tourists. Karwar is also an important Naval base for the Indian navy.

Computer Laboratory
Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e-resource center, which provides access to e-resources among other things.
Library
Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full-text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.
Canteen
The College campus has a spacious and well-ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.
Seminar Rooms
The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
