S.M.D. College, Punpun was established in 1958. The mission was to impart quality education in various disciplines of higher education. It is blessed with a 6 acre sprawling campus.The College upholds the vision of Enlightenment and personality development of younger generation through education to make them an asset to the nation. The College has been striving since its inception with a mission to provide quality education in modern disciplines and inculcating a sense of moral values, national pride and universal brotherhood among students. Well equipped class rooms and laboratories are the main assets of the college. Computer Lab and Library facilities are adequate. Games & sports are also there. The College offers 12 UG in the faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, Science, Information Technology and Computer Applications .Courses are affiliated to Patliputra University, Patna. The college provides sample opportunities to the SC / OBC/Minorities and the other under privileged classes by offering relevant courses which can develop their skills/ practical knowledge. Some students have achieved glorious results in their examinations. For self – development, the faculty members proceed on deputation to orientation / refresher courses and workshop on curriculum development / examination reforms / quality initiatives / management issues.Wide publicity to the admission process is carried out by means of print and electronic media, the detail rule and regulations are provided to the aspirants through college prospectus and website. The admission process is systematically administered and is transparent. An admission committee consisting of members from different faculties admits students on the basis of merit in qualifying exams, in the conventional courses and on basis of performance in entrance test in professional courses. Reservation rules are strictly followed as set-up by Patliputra University, Patna Govt. of Bihar and Central Govt. Selected needy students from weaker sections of society are given freeships / fee concessions. Students are provided counseling at the time of admission and are helped to choose the courses / programmes pragmatically by looking at their strengths and background.

Computer Laboratory
Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e-resource center, which provides access to e-resources among other things.
Library
Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full-text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.
Canteen
The College campus has a spacious and well-ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.
Seminar Rooms
The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
