Amardeep Singh Shergill Memorial College, Mukandpur (SBS Nagar) was taken over by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on July 4th, 2007 as a Constituent College with the mission to provide quality education to the rural youth. Commencement of professional courses like MCA, MBA and equipment of the college with modern educational tools under the dexterous stewardship of Prof.(Dr.) J.S. Sandhu Vice Chancellor GNDU Amritsar witness that the day is not far when the college will turn in to a rural model college.The College was established in 1994 in the memory of Amardeep Singh Shergill, an illustrious student of London School of Economics who passed away in prime of his youth. He was the only son of late Sdrn. Surinder Kaur and S. Gurcharan Singh Shergill, an NRI from England. Instead of getting subdued in grief, the parents decided to serve noble cause of spreading the light of knowledge amongst rural youth with the help of NRI associates.The College is situated at Mukandpur which is a small town in District S.B.S Nagar. It is about 8 Kms from Banga, 20Kms from Phagwara and 20 Kms from Phillaur and 25Kms from SBS Nagar. The campus sprawls over 20 acres with an architecture that merges with the landscape. It has a magnificent triple storeyed Building with open shelf Library, which has more than 33500 books, 40 journals/ magazines and leading newspapers. The library has an E-Book section. The students can view the educational C.D’s in the library. The College library provides facility of Internet and photocopy to students and faculty members. Latest equipments are employed as teaching aids. The College has Chemistry, Botany, Home Science, Child Care, Music (V), Physics, Dress Designing, labs and smart class rooms. There is a separate Computer Science and I.T Block, which has six state of art Computer Labs equipped with 150 computers and internet connectivity of 25 mbps(1 1) through radio link. Equipped with modern teaching aid the department of commerce and business management disseminates essential skills of entrepreneurship through academic and professional courses. Keeping in view the deteriorating standard of English Language amongst rural youth an English language lab with Re-Net software imported from Finland has also been set up inside the College campus. There is a separate Seminar Hall with a sitting capacity of 170 persons. A Hostel for 80 girls is available with extended Internet facility in it.Gymnasium with its latest imported machines is a cynosure of all the eyes. Sports facilities include a track of four hundred meter, playfields for Football, Hockey, Volleyball and Handball. Latest induction in the sports facilities is wrestling coaching which is provided free of cost to college students as well as to non students. A fleet of buses carries the girl students to College and back to their home. The beautiful open-air theatre helps our students to nurture their academic and cultural capabilities. To widen the horizons of the learners, seminars and extension lectures by eminent speakers are arranged in the College from time to time. Separate units of N.C.C, N.S.S, Youth Club and faculty/subject wise societies have been working to make our students disciplined and service oriented citizens. College is leading in academics in the area and also has achieved name and fame in cultural activities. Educational trips are arranged during the session. Apart from being a medium for entertainment these Educational trips cultivate team spirit, mutual adjustment and tolerance amongst the youth. Various cultural programmes including talent hunt and Amardeep Mela are organized annually.

Computer Laboratory
Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e resource center, which provides access to e resources among other things.
Library
Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.
Canteen
The College campus has a spacious and well ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.
Seminar Rooms
The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state of the art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
