Dhemaji Commerce College, a premier institution of Higher Education with Commerce and Arts faculty was established in 1982 under the noble initiative and painstaking efforts of some leading and enlightened citizens and general public of Dhemaji. Initially it was started with the commerce stream only, and subsequently the Arts Stream was started in 1989. The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and registered under section 2 (f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act, 1956. The College was brought under deficit Grants in Aid system by the Govt. of Assam on 25th March, 1998. It was brought under the system of provicialisation by the Govt. of Assam in 2005. The College is located in the eastern most corner of Assam in the border of Assam and Arunachal and is surrounded by villages of tribal and backward communities. The college is Surrounded by a quiet green natural surroundings in the District of Dhemaji on the Railway Station Road. It is about 2 km. away from Dhemaji town and can be conveniently accessed by rickshaw or motor vehicles. From Dhemaji Railway station the institute is about half a kilometer away.Ever since its inception the college has been engaged in imparting quality education. The college has now emerged as a full-fledged institution with undergraduate departments of Arts & Commerce. Besides, the college has a centre for Vocational Studies and a Centre for Computer Education with Diploma and Certificate courses. The admissions are strictly merit-based in all the courses. The college releases a selection list with the names of all selected candidates as per their merit scores.
A particular percentage of total seats are reserved for Direct Admissions where the applications are accepted on a first come first serve basis.Students can apply through both online and offline processes. For admission into degree courses, the college authorities check the class 12th marks and they also conduct a selection test or PI. There are reservations for OBC, ST and SC as per the govt policy. The college campus is very beautiful and you will get to see greenery everywhere. The hostel facilities are also good.Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from recognized board/institute would only be considered eligible to make an admission application for the course. For admission to UG, program candidates would have to undergo a two-tier selection process. This would involve:

Admissions to the in both courses are done through application shortlisting based on merit followed by Document verification. Basic eligibility for making an application to the PG programs is a Bachelor or equivalent degree from recognized University.
Admission to the courses has already begun and the application process would come to an end at the end on July 28, 2021.
Boys Hostel
The college has limited hostel facilities for boys. the number of seats currently available is only 62 and 66 respectively. The application form for hostel admission may be collected from the office of the college and submitted to the concerning office assistant after getting admission to the college. The superintendent in consultation with the college authority will finalize the list of candidates on the basis of merit. No seat in the hostel can be reserved prior to admission to the college. Hostels remain closed for summer vacation. Those admitted to the hostels will have to abide by the J. B. College Hostel Rules.

The institute trains the students for their future career, competitive exams, aptitude skills, personality development. These help to improve our skills and help us to showcase them in the best possible way.
The placement wing is well managed by the college authorities. We have few companies coming to the college for placements, mostly every student gets through an internship. Other departments also have good placement cell.Placements and internships are quite rare from our institute but the students are groomed well for their personality development, communication skills. They were prepared on how to showcase their abilities and skills in the best way possible.
