The Rehabilitation Council of India(RCI) was set up as an enlisted society in 1986.On September,1992 the RCI Act was established by Parliament and it turned into a Statutory Body on 22 June 1993.The Act was corrected by Paliament in 2000 to make it more broadbased.The command given to RCI is to manage and screen administrations given to people with disability,to institutionalize prospectuses and to keep up a Central Rehabilitation Register of every certified proficient and staff working in the field of Rehabilitation and Special Education.The Act additionally endorses reformatory activity against unfit people conveying administrations to people with handicap. 

Objective 

• To control the preparation approaches and projects in the field of restoration of people with inabilities 
• To achieve institutionalization of instructional classes for experts managing people with handicaps 
• To endorse least measures of instruction and preparing of different classes of experts/staff managing individuals with handicaps 
• To direct these measures in all preparation organizations consistently all through the nation 
• To perceive foundations/associations/colleges running graduate degree/four year college education/P.G.Diploma/Diploma/Certificate courses in the field of recovery of people with inabilities 
• To perceive degree/recognition/authentication granted by outside colleges/establishments on complementary premise 
• To advance research in Rehabilitation and Special Education 
• To keep up Central Rehabilitation Register for enrollment of experts/work force 
• To gather data all the time on instruction and preparing in the field of restoration of individuals with incapacities from organizations in India and abroad
