A.V.C. College is a piece of the historical backdrop of the Anbanathapuram Vahaira Charities (A.V.C.), Mayiladuthurai. The celebrated Thiru. S. An excellent 54 section of land site at Mannampandal having a place with Arulmigu Mayuranatha Swamy Temple was picked for the perpetual area of the College. His Holiness the Guru Maha Sannidhanam of Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam, the inherited trustee of the sanctuary gave the site in return of 17 sections of land of wet land having a place with the A.V.C. The College was moved to its present area at Mannampandal after it had worked for a long time at the Municipal Park premises. The College began its Post Graduate Program in 1970 and commended its Silver Jubilee in 1980. The College began the Evening Section for ladies understudies in 1984. With its exemplary exhibition, the College was given the 'Independent' status in 1987 and the equivalent is stretched out till date. It commended its Golden Jubilee in the year 2005. A.V.C. College that was begun with 120 understudies has been recognized as College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by University Grant Commission in 2011 and has been Accredited as 'A' Grade Institution in the third cycle of reaccreditation by NAAC in 2013. By and by it has developed to offer 17 Under Graduate, 19 Post Graduate and 17 Research programs with an understudy quality of around 5600, workforce quality of 263 and non-showing staff of 105 individuals. The College is commending its Diamond Jubilee in February-2016.
