St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering (Autonomous) affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, is owned, administered and run by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kuzhithurai, under the able leadership of the Archbishop, Most. Rev. Antony Pappusamy, the present Chairman of the college, from the bifurcation of the Diocese of Kuzhithurai from the Diocese of Kottar in December, 2014. SXCCE was started in 1998 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kottar, under the nurturing leadership of (the Late) Bishop, Most. Rev. Dr. Leon A. Tharmaraj, who coordinated the initiatives and efforts of the laity and the clergy of the diocese.St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering (Autonomous) is located at the lap of the Western Ghats at Chunkankadai in Chennai District of Tamil Nadu, overlooking the Nagercoil-Thiruvananthapuram National Highway (NH 47). Lush green paddy fields and plantain farms spread their arms around the college and gentle breeze caresses it.

Classrooms
Our classrooms are fully furnished with state-of-the-art technology. The spacious, airy and comfortable classrooms enriches the learning environment for the students. Every classroom has WiFi connectivity and ergonomically designed age-appropriate furniture. To foster opportunities for teaching and learning by integrating learning technology and allowing the Professors to teach using a wide variety of media IT enabled Teaching-Learning pedagogy is used and all classrooms are equipped with a standard array of presentation equipment that provides our faculty with the best multimedia tools for their instructional needs. The classrooms can accommodate 90 students. Our classrooms provide opportunities for a quality education for our students. The facility to use laptops is provided in all the PG classrooms to provide opportunity for the students to explore more and encourage them towards research.
Central Library
The Central Library of the college has kept pace with emerging challenges, perhaps one of the best technical libraries in the region. The state of the art library stretches over 18,000 square meters; the library has in its collection more than 29,000 volumes with 8900 titles on Engineering, Management and Humanities and subscribes to 110 technical journals, 664 online journals and 4 online databases. It has the capacity to accommodate 200 students at a time. Documents in the Library are classified under Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. It has membership of DELNET Consortium, and it is enabled with Wi-Fi technology and security systems with Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV).

Men's Hostel
St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering hostel is established to provide residential facilities with homely atmosphere for the deserving students studying in the institutions managed by our management. This is with a capacity to accommodate 200 students, and is situated in close proximity to the college.
Women's Hostel
A women's hostel with a capacity of 180 students is constructed at close quarters to the college. Students desirous of staying in the hostels should express their option to stay in the hostel in the prescribed form. The option forms should be handed over to the warden.
Health_Care
As the state of health has a direct relationship on academic achievement, the health care cell in St.Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering was started in December 2016. This cell mainly focuses on health promotion, prevention of illness and health education. In the academic year 2017-18 to cater the health care needs of the Staff and Students of SXCCE a new Medical Room with First-Aid Facility has been added to the existing facilities. Apart from this two MoU’S have also been signed between Holy Cross Hospital, Vetroornimadam and St. Xavier’s Catholic college of nursing to provide first aid during medical emergencies .
